Summertime Smoothie Recipe!


Fizzy Lemon Slushy

Serves 4


1 cup water
1 cup sugar
¾ cup fresh lemon juice (juice of 4–5 lemons)
1 cup fresh strawberries, cleaned and sliced, divided
1 cup fresh raspberries, divided
2 cups milk
2 cups club soda, chilled


In saucepan, combine water and sugar. Cook over medium heat until sugar dissolves. Pour into 13x9x2-inch glass baking dish. Add lemon juice; stir.

Purée ½ cup strawberries and ½ cup raspberries in food processor or blender; add to lemon mixture, mix well. Stir in milk,* cover with plastic wrap; freeze 15 min. Remove from freezer and scrape ice crystals with spoon. Return to freezer for 15 min.; remove and scrape ice crystals. Continue this process, scraping every 15 min. until mixture reaches desired thickness, about 1 hour.

Divide remaining berries among 4 glasses. Add ½ cup soda, top with slushy mixture. Stir slightly; serve immediately.


The Stout Cow Cocktail




  • 12 ounces stout beer
  • 1 ounce coffee liqueur
  • 5 ounces whole milk


 Put crushed ice into a large glass.  Add beer and coffee liqueur; slowly pour milk so that it floats at the top.  Serve with a long spoon and stir the layers together.
